This striking Beni Ourain rug measures 410cm x 300cm, and was skillfully handcrafted by Ahlam, a Moroccan Berber tribes woman. The method used and the manner in which it was woven are techniques learned from one Berber tribes woman to the next, generation after generation.

Naturally Sourced

This lovely Berber rug originated from the Atlas Mountains in Northern Africa. Its unique, artistic patterns make it impossible to replicate. The motifs woven into the surface by the indigenous tribe women are not randomly created. Rather, they symbolize various historical facts or depict something specific, such as prayers or meditation rituals. Symbols for fertility, family history, or even good luck symbols that are thought to drive away evil are also frequently seen with such rugs. All are skillfully woven from handspun wool and each rug features details that guarantee its authenticity.

Suitable for all Homes

Because all natural materials are used to create these impressive textiles, they feature basic, neutral colours that ideally blend with essentially any home’s interior design. We regularly travel to Morocco during the year to choose rugs individually since this ensures that top quality products are given to our customers. The ethical business relationship we have forged with the indigenous peoples has been mutually beneficial because the rugs we offer are entirely sourced from local weavers.

Berber Rug Care

Fortunately, many customers are delighted to find that it’s simple to care for and maintain these rugs, even though they feature light colours that are typically easily stained. The reason stains are not difficult to prevent is because of an organic compound in the sheep’s wool called lanolin. Lanolin is naturally resistant to stains and creates a sort of a barrier. All you need to do is use a damp cloth in the natural direction of the wool to immediately prevent permanent stains. If deep cleaning is desired, on the other hand, we suggest having a professional complete that task.
