This impressive Berber rug measures 260cm x 170cm and has been meticulously hand crafted by Farah, a Berber Moroccan tribe member. The artistic techniques used by these gifted weavers have been implemented for thousands of years, and each weaver teaches the next generation her specific approach to the craft.
Chosen by Hand and Made from 100% Natural Materials
This unique, attractive rug was created in North Africa’s Atlas Mountains and the one-of-a-kind artistic motifs and the all-natural substances used to create it guarantee that each rug is entirely original. This is obviously not true with regard to mass produced textiles and cheap imitations that all have the same appearance. Additionally, the characters and symbols are not randomly woven by the artists, but rather symbolize a vast array of things. Some depict the heritage and history of the family, others are hunting symbols or signs of good luck, while others symbolize fertility or even prayers. All the patterns are painstakingly woven with handspun wool, and the materials are guaranteed 100% authentic.
Blends With Any Interior Design
Don’t think that a Berber rug will be difficult to implement into your home’s current interior design, as the exact opposite is true. The natural, neutral colours of both the wool and the substances used to create the designs are shades that readily lend themselves to any colour scheme. You are guaranteed a high-quality rug, as each item is hand selected on one of our numerous trips to Morocco. We visit the area several times a year and search through multiple rugs in order to select only the very best. We have established an ethical and mutually advantageous relationship with the tribe members who make these beautiful pieces.
Berber Rug Care
Cleaning these light-coloured rugs is not at all difficult or time-consuming. This is due to the lanolin that is naturally present in sheep’s wool. This substance creates a built-in barrier against stains and spillage, so that using a damp cloth to gently wipe the rug is usually all that is necessary to prevent light stains. For deep cleaning, however, we recommend a professional rug cleaning service, as this will ensure that the natural beauty of the rug is preserved for many years to come.
